About Us

Stay Ready Training was built on a simple idea: the difference between a good outcome and a bad one usually comes down to preparation. We're a Phoenix and Scottsdale based firearms training company that takes everyday people, new shooters, families, and business leaders, and gives them real skills they can trust under pressure. Our courses cover everything from your first CCW class to high-intensity force-on-force scenarios that put you in the decision-maker's seat. No bravado, no judgment, just experienced instructors who care whether you walk away better than you came in. When the moment comes, you don't rise to the occasion, you fall back on your training.

Battle-tested. Forged in service.

Chris H.- President & Founder

Former AZPOST Sheriff's Deputy · 10+ yrs firearms instruction · USCCA & NRA certified · Glock armorer · Undefeated pro MMA competitor.

In 2013, Chris walked away from an undefeated pro MMA career to become a sworn deputy. On the job he saw a hard truth: most people, including a lot of officers, aren't ready for real violence. SRT exists to close the gap between range training and what actually happens when it counts. Because that gap is where people get hurt.

James S.- CEO

Ret. Detective Sergeant · U.S. Navy Aviation Ordnanceman · M.S. Legal Studies, ASU · 20+ yrs military & law enforcement · AZPOST Firearms Instructor (Fmr.)

James retired as a Detective Sergeant whose career spanned undercover operations, violent crimes, and complex criminal investigations. The kind of high-risk, fast-moving work where hesitation costs you. He takes the guesswork out of training. Blunt, practical, no fluff. He teaches students how to think, adapt, and respond when the situation goes sideways.
